Hair Transplant Problems

Hair transplant surgery is a fairly straight forward and very safe form of cosmetic surgery. Rarely are there any side effects that should cause post-surgery concerns. Hair transplant problems for the most part, are quite limited, with the most serious problem, being a potential post-surgery infection. If such an infection occurs, it only occurs in an extremely small number of patients. A post-surgery infection can of course, occur after any type of surgery that involves penetrating the skin. Therefore, it is important to keep any wounds clean and follow proper post-surgery care instructions as provided by the surgeon; doing so, will assist with avoiding any potential hair transplant problems.

Other post-surgery hair transplant problems that may occur are truly quite minor and they really shouldn’t be referred to as problems, but rather a typical part of the healing process. Such scenarios may include redness of the scalp where the recipient grafts have been placed, some patients experience headaches for a few days after surgery, numbness in the head (all patients will feel this sensation after hair transplant strip surgery, as nerves have been severed during the process of removing the strip and the nerves and need to heal and bind), pimples may become present on the scalp in the recipient area and swelling and tenderness could occur due to the overall process of the surgery. Most of the items listed above are temporary and most last for only a very short period of time.

Other hair transplant problems that could occur, occur if your surgery is performed by an inexperienced surgeon or a hair transplant surgeon using dated techniques. These can be referred to as true hair transplant problems as they truly are issues to be concerned about.

Some of these issues include an unnatural looking hair transplant result (pluggy look, unnatural looking hairline, uneven hairline, and hair transplanted that goes against the natural growth of your existing hair). Other post hair transplant problems could include a wide scar after hair transplant strip surgery and a hair transplant that doesn’t yield the expected growth due to improper dissection of the hairs while isolating them after the strip has been removed. An inexperience technician or surgeon, could damage the hairs root during dissection, which will in essence kill the hair and prevent re-growth.

Although there are a few hair transplant problems that one should be aware of, the procedure is incredibly safe and if you just do your research and locate a qualified surgeon with evidence of past results, you should be in good hands.
