Hair Transplant Graft
In order to transplant new hair in the area of the head where new hair is required, a hair transplant surgeon must extract that hair from somewhere. That somewhere, is usually the sides and back of the head, which are areas of the head that are uneffected by the hormone DHT which is one of the main causes of hair loss in men. This resistance to DHT carries along with the hair even when it is transplanted into areas of the head that are commonly effected by DHT. This, makes a hair transplant the only permanent solution to hair loss.
When hair is removed from the sides or back of the head, they are originally cut out as a strip (or FUE-follicular unit extraction). When that strip is removed from the head, the individual hair grafts then need to be individually isolated so that they are ready to be transplanted.
The hair transplant grafts are usually divided into natural clusters of 1-4 hairs. Depending on the area that requires new hair, either 1,2,3 or 4 hair grafts are transplanted.
